A touch of energy that awakens inner peace and balance

What is Reiki

Reiki is a form of energy healing in which the practitioner channels universal life energy to the client with the intention of bringing body, mind, and spirit back into balance. It can help prevent illness, support the body’s natural healing processes, and bring calm and renewal.

The word Reiki comes from Japanese and is formed by two characters:

  • 霊 rei – spirit, spiritual

  • 気 ki– energy, life force

We all carry this life energy within us. We often use it unconsciously: for example, when something hurts, we instinctively place a hand on that spot. Reiki reminds us of this natural ability and helps us relearn how to work with energy consciously and with trust.

Reiki, as we know it today, was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui at the beginning of the 20th century. Dr. Usui was a spiritual teacher from Kyoto, Japan, who believed that all people carry within them a life force that flows through a network of energy channels connecting body, mind, and soul. When blockages arise in that flow, our inner balance and vitality are disturbed. Reiki gently helps release these blockages and restores the free flow of energy.

What you can expect from a session

Before the session we will have a short conversation, you may share what brought you here, but you do not have to. Energy always knows the way; it flows where it is most needed. I am only a channel, open, present, attentive and your system takes in what it needs in that moment.

A session lasts about 40 minutes. You lie fully clothed on a treatment table, without shoes, with a cushion under your head or legs if that feels more comfortable.

Before we begin, I will always ask whether you feel comfortable with touch. If you prefer not to be touched, I work with my hands above the body; the energy still flows, just as deeply and effectively. There are no fixed rules, only presence and trust in what arises in the moment.

The session can be in silence or with gentle music, whichever feels right for you.

All you need to do is relax and allow.

During the session you may feel:

☯︎ warmth or coolness
☯︎ tingling, pulsations, waves
☯︎ spontaneous movements in the body
☯︎ deep emotions
☯︎ or simply peace

Sometimes you may not feel anything in particular and that is also perfectly fine.

Reiki always works, there is no need to understand it or to control it.

After a session, most people feel more relaxed, lighter, quieter… as if something within has returned to its natural place.

Reiki sessions: how often

How many Reiki sessions you may need depends on your situation and what feels right for you. Sometimes one session is enough, but often people return for several sessions – depending on the nature of the issue, illness, challenge, inner imbalance, or simply the wish for regular reset and deeper connection with themselves.

When you come to the Studio for the first time, we start with a short conversation and introduction. You may share what currently occupies you and how I can support you, but that is not required. If you wish, we can create a personal treatment plan together.

The most common options are:

◎ Single session
Ideal if you want to try Reiki, or if you feel a mild imbalance such as fatigue, stress, tension, or headaches and simply want to relax and recharge.

◎ Short Reiki cycle
If you are going through a demanding period, whether emotional, physical, or related to life events (such as illness, surgery, an accident, loss, or inner conflict)  you may feel the need for greater support. In such moments, weekly sessions can offer support. A short cycle usually consists of 4 sessions over 4 weeks

◎ Long Reiki cycle

If you are living with a chronic condition, whether physical or emotional, you may find it helpful to come every two weeks for several months. This rhythm allows a deeper, gentler process and ongoing support for your healing.

◎ Energetic support: “Maintenance”
Just like caring for the body, the energy field benefits from regular attention. Many clients return to Reiki from time to time as a way of maintaining balance when they feel their “battery is empty.” Frequency and rhythm are entirely up to you based on your own needs and feeling.

Important

If you have a medical diagnosis, it is important to remain under the care of your doctor. Reiki can be a valuable addition to your healing, but it is not a replacement for medical treatment.
